By Acclaimed music producer, Rohail Hyatt has returned to Coke Studio after a 5 year hiatus. An integral thread in the fabric of our music industry now, Coke Studio started off an experimental project that revisited Pakistani sound and spirituality. Hyatt parted ways with Coke Studio initially in 2014, due to a creative burn out, but stayed on with the show as a music consultant till 2017. Recent seasons, however, faced severe backlash and criticism, which makes the timing of him comeback all the more important.
Multiple sources have reported that Zohaib Kazi and Ali Hamza, the show’s producers, have stepped down. The shows format is now undergoing a massive rehaul, while the production team and artist lineup are being decided. Critics hope Rohail Hyatt’s return reminds Coke Studio fans why they fell in love with the show in the first place.
