Beauty Notes: The Baking Soda Mask

Sometimes the best advice we give actually comes from you! Mashion Insider Hafsa Zubair sent us a recipe which promises soft, supple skin. That is quite the claim, one we couldn’t ignore. Read to discover!

Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons chickpea flour (besan)
  • 1 medium sized lemon
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 ½ teaspoon honey

Instructions:

To apply this mask, start by mixing the ingredients well together until it forms a thick paste. Then gently massage your face with the mask and let it dry for 15-20 minutes or even more, if the paste takes longer to dry. Once the mask has completely dried, wash your face with water.

Disclaimer:

Some skin types are sensitive to certain ingredients. Please patch test on another area – such as the inside of your elbow or hand – before applying anything on your face. This mask was tried on combination skin.

About the mask: first things first – it is a bit of a task taking it off (possibly due to the baking soda present in it). It didn’t leave any noticeable effects immediately. However, it did make the skin more soft and supple to touch. We’d say try it out on a day when you have all the right ingredients and your skin could use some moisture.
