Staying positive is definitely not easy and our follower, Rubab Mahmood, knows that. That’s why she’s written about the 5 things she thinks everyone needs to try to do in order to have a more positive outlook in life. Scroll down to find out more:

1. Focus On Your Relationship With Yourself

The most important relationship in our life is the one we have with ourselves; and that’s why it’s important to nurture it. This can be done by spending more time with ourselves and engaging in activities that we find enjoyable. Small acts of self-care such as a relaxing spa-day or a quiet moment to self reflect, can go a long way in establishing a positive outlook to life. It’s especially important to remember to be kind to yourself and stop focusing on any shortcomings. There’s so much to love, but if one is constantly talking to themselves negatively, they won’t see it.

2. Don’t Tell Everyone Everything

We tend to involve people in our matters and then blame them if things don’t work out our way. But it’s really our own fault because hearing multiple opinions around something and listening to others instead of our own gut is not always going to work. Instead of blaming others, t’s important to own our mistakes and bad habits. Limiting access certain people have to your life is going to end up with a more positive and happier you!

3. Don’t Put Others Down

As a society, we need to stop making people feel bad about things. People spread hate and put people down over everything whether it’s being a new mom, body shaming or simply not working hard enough. Everyone is fighting their own battles and has their own struggles to deal with. One could even subconsciously be doing things that makes another feel worse about themselves, so it’s important to constantly check in and be self aware about our actions.

4. Communicate

If you have a problem about something with someone, tell them. Don’t go around telling other people or carrying those feelings of resentment around. This will not only negatively impact your relationship with that person, but will also adversely affect your mental health. Having a conversation and being open about your feelings might not yield the results you want, but in the long run, it will result in you feeling more at peace. And that’s what matters.

5. Appreciate The Good Things In Life

It might be easier said than done, but try to focus on your blessings. When something bad happens, we get so wrapped up in the negativity of it all, that we forget our life is filled with so many other things that deserve appreciation. Having a bad day doesn’t mean you’re having a bad life. It’s okay to sit in the feeling for a while, but ultimately try to remember all the things you’re grateful for; keeping a journal for this might actually help!
