However, that’s exactly what happened with Easypaisa’s revamped version of Sajjad Ali’s 90’s hit, Babiya!. With over 15 million views, this blast from the past become a favourite amongst many and resulted in requests for the full song! A request that Easypaisa decided to fulfil for all the fans. The popular commercial features a man going around the mall and using his Easypaisa application in multiple ways. As soon as he launches the app, his tired demeanour switches to one that’s more energetic – all while dancing to Sajjad Ali’s Babiya. It’s the song that sets the mood for the whole commercial and because it’s an old favourite, people are able to immediately resonate with it.
For those who grew up listening to the song, it’s a pleasant reminder of their childhood. It’s something people constantly mention, even in the comments which Sajjad Ali reads out. Through a commercial, people are left reminiscing and that’s what makes the commercial itself so memorable.
The power of the commercial didn’t just end at the nostalgia it created, but instead, it resulted in an overwhelming amount of people wanting a full version of the song. We couldn’t blame them – we had been secretly hoping for the same thing! That’s why when Easypaisa announced that they will be collaborating with Sajjad Ali once again to release the whole song, we were over the moon.
