How To Build A Skincare Routine For Teenagers

With those tender teenage years come a whole slew of skin problems. Annoying blackheads and pimples that just won’t go way are all a part of reaching puberty. And not everyone can afford ridiculously expensive skincare products and have a fancy skincare routine. But don’t worry, because the CTM routine is made for you! Read on to learn about the CTM routine and how you can achieve a softer and more radiant complexion, with affordable products and natural alternatives.

What Is The CTM routine?

The CTM routine is a 3-step skincare regime that involves Cleansing, Toning and Moisturizing.

Cleansing: Start of by removing any makeup you have on with a clean makeup wipe and then wash your face with a chemical-free face wash or cleanser.

Toning: Toning helps to calm the skin and balance the skin’s pH levels, preparing it for the next step. Make sure you’re using a toner that isn’t too harsh on your skin.

Moisturising: Investing in a good, everyday moisturizer and night cream is highly recommended. Moisturising everyday can reduce the chance of developing extreme dryness or oiliness. Both are extremely harmful for skin and causes common skin conditions like acne.

A variety of moisturizers, toners and cleansers are available in the market these days, ranging from expensive to cheap. However, most skincare products are loaded with chemicals and will only help you for a short period of time.

Going to your local drug store and buying a bunch of skin products is pretty easy, but what if you could carry out a CTM routine with the things already in your house? We’re sure your parents would prefer that over buying expensive products. So here are some desi totkay and natural ingredients you can use:

Step 1: Cleansing

Cut a fresh Aloe Vera leaf and scoop out its gel and apply it to the face. Gently massage and then wash off. It’s great for oily/combination skin as it cools it down and won’t clog your pores!

Cleansing your face with yoghurt is great for dry and sensitive skin. It will kill any bacteria as it contains lactic acid. It’s also packed with proteins, probiotics and minerals that will leave your skin soft and supple.

Step 2: Toning

Mix some fresh mint leaves in water and boil. Strain it and then use as a toner with a cotton pad. It’s antiseptic, which makes it great for all skin types. Mint helps fight acne and reduce inflammation.

Apple cider vinegar, mixed with green tea, is also a great toner for oily skin. The green tea reduces redness and ACV balances the pH levels in your skin.

For dry skin, a combination of rose water and cucumber juice can work wonders. It won’t dry your skin out and keep it hydrated and fresh!

Step 3: Moisturising

To make an amazing homemade moisturizer, mix aloe vera gel with coconut oil and blend it till you get a lotion consistency. It’s very refreshing and moisturising and the aloe vera makes it very light. It works well on all skin types.
