By With FPW behind us, we went off to Lahore for PSFW to cap an extremely lively and creative fashion month. We saw streamlined athleisure, juxtaposed with embroidered saris and vibrant digital prints. With showstoppers like Hania Amir and Eman Suleman gracing the runway, it was a star studded event, with all eyes on them. An amalgamation of art, culture and fashion, we were split for sartorial inspiration. We put together the trends that we foresee making waves this summer.
Power Shoulders
While we’ve been doting on baguette bags and barely there sandals that remind us of the 90’s – PSFW was all about the 80’s! The glitter and electric neon only lead the way for the statement shoulders we saw on the runway. We love the trend because it draws attention to the shoulders, while slimming down the rest of the frame. This is also a trend we saw at FPW, and love Hafsa Mahmood’s interpretation with the sheer gauze. Up and coming designer, Zeeshan Mohyuddin adapted the trend to his own design aesthetic, and paired a fitted bustier with structured shoulder pads.
Ethnic Belt Bags
We’ve seen belt bags before during the F/W season, but never like this. With ethnic motifs and traditional sequining, don’t be surprised if this is a huge spring wedding trend! Inspired by the traditional batwa style, Zara Shahjahan’s ‘Adaab’ saw belt bags made out of the same fabric as the outfits, lending way to a sleek monochrome look. Fahad Hussayn Couture chose contrasting colours, pairing a bright yellow, embroidered messenger bag with his truck art print tunic.
Sheer On Shirt
These floaty, transparent shirts are perfect for the hotter months ahead! Paired with slips in the same colour, or contrasting colours for an unexpected pop had us floored. In true HSY style, he added a dramatic flair to his collection, ‘Rani’, by pairing a sheer red cape with a high necked top underneath. Similarly, Zara Shahjahan layered a short, flowy kameez over a white halter top.
Punchy Tangerine
Bright tangerine reigned supreme on the PSFW runway, and we couldn’t be happier. Warmer than a bright, lemony yellow, but just as summer-friendly, these all orange outfits have us inspired to test out the citrusy hue. No matter what your personal style is, the trend is easy to adapt and incorporate into your wardrobe! Case in mind, Nomi Ansari’s youthful athliesure set, or Zasimo’s burnt orange, leopard print number.
Pastel Colour Block
Nothing beats a monochrome outfit, but for those willing to test the waters, these pastel pairings need to be on your list! A fresh take on a vintage classic, unexpected bursts of colour (in small or large doses), have our heart. Evident throughout Chapter 2, HANA, and Sameer Karasu’s showcase, solid pastel pairings are a summer mainstay.
