10 Easy Steps To Get A Salon Like Pedicure At Home

Looking for some quality pampering time but don’t have the energy or funds to go to a salon – fret not. Treat yourself to a salon-like pedicure, all in the comfort of your home. You’ll also save some bucks and soft, satiny feet in no time. All you need to do is follow these 10 easy steps. Go on, do it!

Step #1: Buff

Start by buffing your feet. Do it when they’re dry, not after they’re soaked in water. Buffing dry feet will remove all the dead skin from your feet. Use a good quality buffer around your heels, balls of your feet and the skin under your toes.

Step #2: Dip Your Feet

Fill up a bowl with water, warm enough to let your feet soak in for a while. This will not only relax your feet but it will also strengthen and whiten your nails. Soak them for at least 10 minutes. If you can, add some marbles or pebbles in the bowl and roll your feet back and forth – this makes for a great foot massage.

Step #3: Massage

While we know that getting a foot massage by someone else makes it 100 times better, doing it on your own isn’t too bad either. Briskly massage your feet using a good quality foot scrub and get rid of all the flaky dead skin. Rinse it off.

Step #4: Care For Your Cuticles

Dry your feet once done. Next, apply cuticle oil (coconut oil will do too) and let your cuticles soak for 3-5 minutes. Finally, ease your cuticles back using a cuticle stick (also called an orange stick).

Step #5: Cut Your Nails

Cut your toenails using a clean nail clipper. You should cut your nails with little snips, rather than cutting them in one go – the latter can cause your nails to break. Be careful when doing so, don’t try to cut too deep into your nail beds, this may cause bleeding.

Step #6: File Your Toenails

Use a clean nail filer to neatly soften the edges of your trimmed toenails. Missing this step can cause you to scratch your garments. It’s also generally painful if you wear close-toed shoes.

Step #7: Moisturise

The next step is to moisturise your feet using a good moisturising lotion. The gentle moisturising massage will leave your feet smooth and soft.

Step #8: Wear Socks

To get the most from this at-home pedicure, it is most important to protect your feet from any dirt and residue after you have moisturised. So wrap your feet with soft, breathable socks and say hello to baby-soft soles!

Step #9: Add Colour

If you don’t want your feet to look bland, then apply a pop of colour. But before you do that, wipe the foot lotion off your nails using damp cotton balls. First, add a base coat, then two layers of a nail polish of your choice and end with a top coat.

Step #10: Get Salon-like Finish

For a low-maintenance finish, don’t forget to add a single coat of stain corrector to instantly brighten your nail tips. This is an easy way to keep your nails looking healthy and pink.
